From the Empress's own Vineyard

“Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC” Ried Liesenpfennig 2022 – the eleventh imperial vintage is here!

Maria Theresia would have been overjoyed at the very thought of this multilayered, aromatic elixir! What we've got here, for the eleventh time in the bottle, is a Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC - the great traditional field-blend of Vienna, whose grapes were grown exclusively in the park of the baroque imperial palace Schloss Schönnbrunn. Liesenpfenning is the name of this historic vineyard, which was already bearing fruit on the grounds of the imperial summer- palace at the time of the Habsburg monarchy.

Imperial Brilliance in the Bottle
Later fallen out of use and forgotten, this site was resurrected eleven years ago by the growers' group WienWein. Rainer Christ (Weingut Christ), Michael Edlmoser (Weingut Edlmoser), Thomas Huber (Weingut Fuhrgassl-Huber), Thomas Podsednik (Weingut Cobenzl), Gerhard J.-Lobner (Weingut Mayer am Pfarrplatz) and Fritz Wieninger (Weingut Wieninger) were able to bring in the eleventh harvest in the autumn of 2022. And now one year later, the imperial beverage Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC Liesenpfennig 2022 is resting comfortable in the bottle.

Eleventh Vintage
The vintage 2022 glides into the glass with 13.0 % alcohol, 2,3 g/l residual sugar and 6,2 g/l acidity. It exhibits a complex aromaticity along with a presence on the palate that is simultaneously fruit-driven and spicy - equally comfortable in the roles of table-companion or solo-sipper.

Auction to benefit SOS-Kinderdorf Wien
The 500 bottles will be offered in nine lots, the number of bottles ranging from one to sixty, in sizes from 750ml to 5 litres. These will be sold to the top bidder, of course; and the bids will certainly prove to be generous, since all net proceeds go to SOS-Kinderdorf Wien, an organisation providing homes for children in need.

The auction will begin on 6 October 2023 and end on 5 November 2023.
